Dr. Alshuth is a QM (Quality Matters) certified online course developer and QM Subject Matter Expert for Oceanography. The QM Certificates are designed to prepare experienced online faculty to serve as QM-Certified Peer Reviewers. Individuals whose leadership efforts have changed the online education quality assurance paradigm for the betterment of students and educators particularly deserve this award.

Dr. Alshuth's has very effective communication and teaching skills, enhanced by her research experiences - additionally enhanced by extensive specialized technical computer skills in developing custom-made online marine science courses. Her courses require students to explore and investigate knowledge-based solutions related to marine resource and environmental sustainability. Dr. Alshuth's courses include not only online-virtual field trips to marine science (company and research institution) related websites, but have also included physical field trips with integrated hands-on field work and lab courses (when supported by the perspective institution and their insurance resources). She encourages Experiential Education and Learning (ExEL) projects by providing additional credit and contact resources for companies and institutions in related fields where students can volunteer their time for hands-on applied experience in the respective course field. This has been an extremely popular asset to her course model.

QUALITY MATTERS - QM AWARDS

The purpose of Dr. Alshuth's successful online marine science teaching course model is to be able to continually adapt and evolve with advancing online teaching resource technology. It was developed, evolved and tested over twenty years as she taught online courses in Oceanography, Marine Biology, Tropical Marine Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Marine Ecosystems and Anthropogenic Marine Impacts on Marine Environments. Her course development and teaching model necessarily focuses on: 1. Core information prioritization, 2. Core information organization, 3. Content clarification, 4. Content presentation inclusive in a wide variety of learning styles and mental processing, 5. Content feedback assessed by student participation, success rates, retention, completion, student satisfaction and enrollment.

QM AWARD - Peer Reviewer Certificate (PRC)

The QM-PRC award course includes a review of the foundational principles of Quality Matters and the QM Rubric. It is designed to prepare experienced online faculty to serve as QM-Certified Peer Reviewers. Once you complete the eligibility steps for becoming a Higher Education Reviewer, you'll be part of the QM database of Reviewers. Your discipline, areas of expertise and other experience will help others recognize you as a possible candidate for serving on official QM-Managed online course reviews.

QM AWARD - APPQMR

Awardees demonstrate a commitment to ensuring high online course quality and using different but valuable approaches to improving learner outcomes. This certificate is designed to re-certify experienced online faculty to continue to serve as QM-Certified Peer Reviewers and Subject Matter Experts (SME) providing QM-Managed online course reviews for other organizations.
