VICE PRESIDENT OF MARINE RESEARCH - Consultant for contract research and advise on various marine biotechnology and aquaculture development projects. Contract Research (incl. grants), 2003 - Present.

BCI PROJECT CONTRIBUTIONS:

Long-term ecological monitoring of coral reefs in Southern Caribbean. Studies include oceanographic upwelling events and the effects on reef communities, potential of non-indigenous species impacts on local reef ecology and anthropogenic impacts on tropical reef ecosystems influencing the systems' resilience.

Design work for a Spiny Lobster Panulirus ornatus broodstock holding, hatching and larval rearing tank system. Funding by Lobster, Inc.

Brand specific sunscreen toxicity in six species of reef-building hard corals. In collaboration with Florida Institute of Technology's Vero Beach Marine Laboratory. Funding by Patrick’s Sunscreen, Inc.

Environmental assessment regarding the potential of non-indigenous aquaculture species (and its potential affects on the local reef ecology) to be grown at a new inland fish farm on the Caribbean island of Bonaire, NA. Funding by Elijah Fish Farms, Curacao.

Southern District Director for South Florida's Center for NOAA's Phytoplankton Monitoring Network Program (PMN): Study of oceanographic parameters associated with Harmful Algae Blooms. Recruit and train undergrad. and grad. students and enhance online course curriculum for offering ExEL (Experiential Education & Learning) projects, Directed Independent Studies and Honor's Roll Student Research Projects. Associated research with NOAA.

Economic Feasibility and Development Cost Analysis of Spiny Lobster Aquaculture. Funding by Darden, Inc.

State of the Art Study of Spiny Lobster Aquaculture and Related Life History. Funding by Darden, Inc.

Design, management and operation of the University of Florida’s Shrimp Aquaculture Demonstration Project in collaboration with University of Florida, IFAS, Indian River Research and Education Center (IRREC). Funding by the FL Department of Agriculture.
