DR. ALSHUTH'S OCEAN & SEAS EXPEDITIONS

Home / Your Professor  /  Biography /  Research  /   Expeditions

Dr. Alshuth had many years of both offshore, inshore and coastal biological oceanographic field research experience including Chief Scientist on 17 oceanic research expeditions administering a research team of 12+ scientists and related staff. Additionally, she participated in 19 oceanic expeditions as participating research scientist onboard various research vessels - including participating in submersible dives to 3,000 feet depths aboard the JOHNSON-SEA-LINK II submersible.

Dr. Alshuth' tropical oceanic photo and video expeditions take her to exotic places and islands in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans - where she explores tropical marine ecosystems and their oceanographic environment. Together with her husband she has made regular extended visits to the Caribbean in her photo collection expeditions during the past twenty years, diving many of the Islands' coral reef systems, photographing and documenting environmental impacts (coral bleaching and eutrophication - algal over growth) and the general health of the coral community habitats and ecology. She uses much of her UW photography in her undergraduate and graduate class development activities and online teaching.
